These are the photos of the Louisiana flood the media hasn’t shown you

The situation is devastating.

thechanelmuse

It’s been raining every damn day over there. Twelve days of storms…and counting. Two feet of rain in less than 72 hours. They said the water came up so fast…

onlyblackgirl

Is the government doing anything? Sending boats in to help? Anything?

fairylightsandstardust

I’ve heard mostly about private citizens helping each other or businesses matching donations to the red cross. I don’t know if I haven’t heard about the government helping because me and the fam didn’t need to be rescued or because they are doing the minimum to help

fairylightsandstardust

So I know I just reblogged this but I’d just thought I’d let those not in Louisiana know that it’s raining again

thechanelmuse

The rain isn’t gonna let up until next Sunday. Plus the high humidity…That shit is insane.

There is a POTENTIAL RAPIST at NYU, and I need your help in stopping him

holy-the-terra-firm

image

So for four months straight, I have been sexually harassed by a rising sophomore at NYU Tandon. He and I used to be close friends, before he decided to suddenly send me rape fantasies of actual, specific women among our mutual friends.

The above screenshot is a post I made on FB during the months when I was still talking with him, and I was extremely furious and exhausted and broken from our interactions.

image

I thought it was an odd and extremely uncomfortable joke when the NYU student first messaged me about wanting to gang rape one of his classmates, and was too emotionally exhausted to call him out for it, so I let it slide. But when he sent me another message of wanting to ballgag a mutual acquaintance of ours and force her into performing sexual acts of a degrading nature, I asked him to please stop. Instead of stopping, he immediately mocked and disregarded my request. If anything, this was the first of many, many more to come. He proceeded to send me more sexual assault scenarios, each increasingly more violent than the last.

As our conversations developed, he would go on to send me furious rants about how he wanted to sexually and physically dominate women of color for being “race traitors” and refusing to date him, a Chinese-American, in favor of white men, and tell me that I have no right to call him out for being a misogynist because of my own relationships with white men.

I can count at least 20 times when I both called him out on how disturbing his behaviors are and how uncomfortable and fucked up it is that he considered it to be his default state of mind to want to rape women, and also asked him to STOP SENDING ME HIS FANTASIES - except he never listened and continued to harass me. I have even told him of experiences of my own rape when I was seven-years old, in hopes that he would understand how traumatizing his messages are to me, only to have him still send me his fantasies about brutalizing the bodies of women. For Christ’s sake, not even two months ago, right before I finally cut him off, he even fucking sent me a message about wanting to throw a girl out of a window and shoot his jizz through the hole that her body makes in the glass.

What’s worse is that throughout his life, several people have tried so hard to lead him from his dangerous path, only for him to smile & lie & promise to change to become better -

image

and then return to hurting & harassing women & trans people when nobody is looking, because he thinks himself entitled to our pain. He hates us because we refuse to have sex with him, even after he continuously sexually harasses us.

I can’t disclose identity or release any evidence on what he has done, but I have definite screenshots of his vile nature. Actually, at the beginning of this month, while I was looking through his messages again, I found a really suspicious message of his that kept disturbing me.

He’s described to me several times of his encounters and dates with women, and I had no reason to doubt the veracity of his accounts. In this particular message, he talked about inviting a woman to his house to watch a movie, and described a physical encounter in which he had to turn her down for sex despite her obvious lust for him.

When I first read the message, I didn’t think too much of it - but after talking extensively with the other girls who he talked about going on dates with, and seeing rather differing accounts of his experiences and theirs,

(screenshots from a conversation between me and one of the girls who the NYU student went on a “date” with, and he told me that the girl had a crush on him and kept asking him out)

I pieced things together and decided that the really suspicious message deserved a bit of investigation, only to find out that HE IS AN ACTUAL SEXUAL ASSAULTER AND HE IS A LEGITIMATE THREAT TO THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM.

image

Now I am extremely frantic and worried about the safeties of everyone on the NYU campus. So please, I need everyone’s help.

Right here is a petition (https://www.change.org/p/nyu-tandon-school-of-engineering-i-believe-in-you?source_location=petitions_share_skip)  in which some of his victims and I ask NYU to take actions and preventive measures against this potential rapist for his repeated patterns of sexual harassment. In order for this to come to fruition however, we need to have a large amount of traction within social media. Please sign and share this petition in any venues or platforms that you can. I am planning on gathering as many signatures as I can (at least 5,000 is the goal) before sending this to NYU, along with the screenshots and a complaint file. His victim, the person who he attacked, is also planning on filing charges against him, and wishes that her identity be kept anonymous.

It’s been at least a month since I cut him off, but I still have nightmares of him assaulting the women he mentioned like he described to me countless times, and I know that I’m unable to rest until justice happens. I will be grateful for any help in spreading this petition.

Thank you for any support that you are able to offer.

**NOTE. I was given permission to use these screenshots of conversations //

I’ve been getting ready to launch a new literary theory project which goes really in-depth to talk about Homestuck and complicated academic concepts (like post-structuralism and semiotics) hopefully to make both of them more fun and accessible to understand. I’ve been thinking about making some of my posts in video format, so Homestuck 2.0 seems perfect for my project.

If you’d like to see content like this on the official Homestuck channel please follow this link to my YouTube comment and like and comment on it so that the MS Paint Adventures team can see it!

I’m going to have more information about this project coming up soon right here, and you can ask me questions on this blog or on the YouTube comment if you want more information or have any suggestions!

Thank you so much!

dark matter rage has been called out multiple times on anti-Blackness for years now (since Janani and Alok formed as a duo). regardless of whether some of these were private or public, the fact that there are still lots of people who are completely unaware of how fucked up they are shows the amount of work they put into covering it all up.

afrodyke

Both are anti black and benefit immensely off of class privilege. Tell me again about how you’re from st. louis but went to a private school that costs $20k….and isn’t anywhere near where majority of black st. louisans live.

Again, how can you critically come for white supremacy when you don’t look at the class privilege that got yall to stanford, and continues to keep yall living in a white yuppie part  of bklyn???

xcedarxsmoke

shit. so i hadn’t heard about this before. dark matter just came through tiohtià:ke (‘montreal’) to keynote culture shock at mcgill and received (obviously) a lot of validation / celebrity adoration (thanks for that wording mytongueisforked).
so, non-black poc - what are we gonna do / now what? we need to (help each other) own, acknowledge, and continually fight our anti-black shit and be critical in our relationships with one-another, and in who we (often uncritically) validate and give social capital / attention to- and the violence that perpetuates when it goes unchecked.

hi, so i bolded two things in your reblog that i want to respond to. but before that, i’d like to say that if you haven’t already read this thread of comments, please do so. blackfoxx was kind enough to share her experiences with darkmatter rage. also note what bad-dominicana has pointed out: ” … [i]ts not that they dont say antiblack shit or people havent heard, its that nobody cares when black people are harmed or when they speak of said harm. thats how they stay on.”

in terms of what we (non-Black poc) do now? — for starters, what we should have done in the first place … support the experiences, critiques, and concerns expressed by Black folks. b-binaohan has already shared a caption of a tweet made by bad-dominicana regarding dark matter (x). notice that this post has only 11 notes and the tweet itself only has two likes, two retweets. if you have a twitter account you can search darkmatterrage to find this tweet and others like it (they are there) to share them w folks you know. in terms of reaching darkmatterrage and asking them to respond, they have a long history of ignoring any public critiques/ responding privately to folks who message them directly without bringing any off these concerns up to their followers/ fanbase publicly.

beyond this, i think at this point it’s important to watch out for shifting the burden back onto Black folks. on top of this, request consent to share, and be prepared to defend anyone whose experiences you do share. it’s no coincidence that (off the top of my head) three of the bloggers (all Black women) who have spoken out about dmr’s antiblackness already receive a massive amount of harassment on multiple social media platforms.

regarding your last point, “be[ing] critical in our relationships with one-another, and in who we (often uncritically) validate and give social capital / attention to” —- the thing is, it’s a very purposeful validation. that darkmatter even got to the point of popularity they’ve reached is already a problem. they are two non-Black poc performing spoken word. their name itself appropriates a spatial metaphor derived from African Diasporic science fiction. they’ve started a group titled the spaceship, which is again appropriation, and have used their platform to speak on structures of violence—antiblackness, transmisogyny, classism & gentrification (detailed in afrodyke’s comment above)— that do not affect them, over people directly harmed. blackfoxx pointed out that dmr does direct donations to twoc orgs. but again, it’s a question of why they were even provided certain offers in the first place. they haven’t been given attention despite these things, but precisely because of them.

yup and nah for those commenting, its not that they dont say antiblack shit or people havent heard, its that nobody cares when black people are harmed or when they speak of said harm. thats how they stay on.

So yeah I have been very open & public about my feelings and interactions with them. Including a sitdown I had with them over tea after the initial headbutt we had on social media. It was my understanding that now they focus more on South Asian narratives and experiences now (at least on social media) but obviously Im not at their actual events to know. Initially there were lots of issues with them hosting events & workshops in which they led discussions on antiblackness, without Blk people present. As non-Black bodies they rely on a brand of discussing Black life to build their cachet as academics & organizers. Regardless of their intentions this cant happen without engaging BLACK people who are doing that work, specifically those that are calling out their work when its a problem. They published work that was anti-black & transmisogynist in the past which I have not seen fully addressed publicly.

They occupy a weird space because it can be difficult to call them out because of their ties. Specifically I was informed by several parties including them, they use the money they receive for speaking about antiblack transmisogyny (where our issue happened) as donations to TWoC organizations. I dont know what that looks like exactly but it can definitely freeze people out of community who have something to say about it. They do like to handle things privately, which is understandable but not how any of this works if you are want to dismantle antiblackness & be accountable for the space your body can violently take up. Especially if you accept a mantle of expertise on an experience that you do not live, that those who do learn to articulate in blood.

Specifically they were being credited by another org with the work & scholarship of several women of color, including myself, and being held up as leaders on conversations & narratives around antiblack transmisogyny. I would tweet a series of ideas, then they would tweet the same to a chorus of applause & genius. When this was brought up they said they got their content from trans women (unnamed) who they are in solidarity with. Another time there was a social media in which we were discussing antiblack transmisogyny & a white queer org asked them if they are available for booking & are available to discuss this at their event. Antiblack Transmisogyny. Neither of them are trans women or Black. After all of these things happened I stepped in as an actual body, not as a theory, and we tried to resolve it. I dont know what they are doing now. I do know they are uncomfortable and seemingly unwilling to have public accountability around any of these issues. They are people who have had a lot of access around people with very little so I think a lot of this they just simply do not get. Or perhaps they do and do not care. I can’t say.

I should say they were very positive, charming & affirming in our meeting. They seemed sincere but there were still pieces missing for me. I really dont know what to make of them nor do I know what they have been doing lately. The accountability piece will always rub me the wrong way.

But yeah, this is most of my personal experience with them. I am also in a place, unlike many others who are more vulnerable, where I just honestly do not care about having to navigate organizing scenes. It is what is.
